(Mis-)Translating Deceit research presented at the European Communication Conference in Brno

The (Mis-)Translating Deceit project was well represented at the recent European Communication Conference (also known as ECREA conference) that took place in Brno in Czechia between 8 and 11 September 2026. Three papers based on the audience strand of the project were presented at the conference: a paper examining the role of moral judgments in audience engagement with disinformation, led by Sabina Mihelj, a paper investigating generational differences in audience reception of disinformation, led by Stefan Janjić, and a paper studying how audiences ‘domesticate’ disinformation messages that circulate transnationally, led by Hannah Vincze. Sabina Mihelj also co-organised a panel on disinformation in Central and Eastern Europe, as part of the Political Communication section of the conference.
